Under The Labels brings together clothing brands offering natural-fiber alternatives to conventional synthetic clothing. We look for pieces made from materials like organic cotton, linen, hemp, and wool, with a close eye on dyes, finishes, and where and how things are made. We also pay attention to the small synthetic components that sometimes show up in otherwise natural-fiber garments, like elastane and polyester stitching.

Even when we love a brand, we look at every piece individually before adding it to the shop. Whether you're looking for 100% cotton clothing, merino wool basics, or simply trying to wear less plastic, we want to make finding better options a little easier.

Net Positive

Net Positive makes natural-fiber underwear and bralettes using GOTS-certified organic cotton, organic Egyptian cotton, and hemp. The brand focuses on alternatives to conventional synthetic underwear, with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100-certified trims and finishes, including elastic and stitching. Net Positive also states that its products are tested for harmful azo dyes and formaldehyde, with a fully traceable supply chain.

What makes Net Positive stand out is its attention to the materials and chemical treatments that often go overlooked in underwear. The brand markets its core collection as plastic- and PFAS-free, and some styles feature botanical dyes. Under The Labels carries select pieces for shoppers looking for organic cotton and hemp underwear, natural-fiber bras, and alternatives to polyester and nylon intimates.
Hemp Traders

Hemp Traders specializes in hemp-based clothing and textiles, including 100% hemp and hemp blends with organic cotton. The company holds Organic Content Standard (OCS) certification through ECOCERT for a range of hemp and organic cotton fabrics, and its apparel is made from the same hemp jersey fabrics it sells for garment production.

For dyed fabrics, Hemp Traders states that it uses low-impact dyes and dyeing methods. Some dyeing is done in Los Angeles and some in China, depending on the fabric and order. Because the company also sells fabrics containing elastane and offers optional specialty treatments, we review the composition of each Hemp Traders piece individually rather than treating every product as meeting the same standard.
LINTICO

LINTICO specializes in linen clothing made primarily from European-grown flax, with many styles using 100% linen. The brand highlights European Linen, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and GOTS certifications across its material story, and uses pre-shrunk, garment-washed linen for a softer finish.

For color, LINTICO says it favors non-toxic, nature-derived dye systems designed to preserve linen’s breathability and natural texture. We still review each piece individually, only selecting 100% linen and other natural-fiber styles.
Purely Alpaca

Purely Alpaca is a family-run company that has specialized in alpaca clothing and goods since 2002. What started with their own alpaca farm grew into a broader collection of pieces sourced from alpaca makers in the U.S. and South America. We select from the brand piece by piece, prioritizing styles made entirely or predominantly from natural fibers and clearly disclosing any blends.
Minus33 Merino Wool

Minus33 Merino Wool is a family-owned New Hampshire brand specializing in merino wool clothing, including thermal base layers, leggings, and outdoor apparel. The company sources Australian wool from Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified suppliers and offers Woolmark® certified products. Its merino wool garments are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, meaning they've been tested for harmful substances, including PFAS.

While Minus33 also produces wool blends containing synthetic fibers, Under The Labels carries its 100% merino wool clothing. These pieces offer natural-fiber alternatives to conventional polyester and nylon thermal layers, with the warmth and breathability of wool and no synthetic fibers in the fabric.
TITTIMITTI

TITTIMITTI is a family-run U.S. brand specializing in natural-fiber socks, underwear, clothing, and accessories. Their collections include organic cotton, merino wool, silk, and cashmere, with most products made in Italy by specialized textile manufacturers. The brand also works with manufacturers in Turkey and Sri Lanka, depending on the materials and construction of each piece.

What stands out about TITTIMITTI is its attention to fiber composition and transparency. The brand provides detailed material percentages and information about where its products are made, recognizing that a garment labeled "cotton" or "wool" doesn't necessarily tell you what's actually in it. Some pieces are made from 100% natural fibers, while others contain small amounts of elastane or other synthetics. Under The Labels only selects the natural-fiber styles that meet our material standards, including options for shoppers looking for 100% cotton socks.
Passion Lilie

Passion Lilie is a New Orleans-based fair trade clothing brand specializing in natural-fiber apparel, including organic cotton basics, dresses, and everyday clothing. Founded in 2013, the brand works with artisan groups in India to produce clothing in small batches, incorporating traditional techniques like hand block printing and ikat weaving. Passion Lilie prioritizes natural fibers, organic cotton, and nontoxic dyes, and is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.

What stands out is the brand's attention to both materials and the people making its clothing.
